The following are some of the materials used for Jewel candy making:

Isomalt:

Isomalt is more of a sugar substitute that is made from sucrose and creates a humid and moisture-resistant product, and thus it makes an excellent product for Jewel candy. When isomalt is boiled, it does not require any anti-crystallising ingredients. It is also sugar-free and has low calories than the regular sugar, so you can use these to make candies if you are concerned about your health.

Boiled Sugar:

Boiled Sugar is a mixture of sugar and water. All you have to do is mix sugar and water in a pan and heat it to a particular temperature till you get a syrupy solution. An anti-crystallising agent like glucose is also sometimes added to make the mixture a bit thicker.

Fondant:

Fondant is kind of sugarcraft dough that is pliable, and you can press the fondant into the moulds.

Candy Clay:

Candy clays are also called as Chocolate Plastique, and they can be pressed into moulds just like you do with fondant. You can make the candy clay at home by adding glucose or corn syrup to the sugar solution and then coating it with chocolate.

Plastic moulds:

If you are using fondant and candy clay, then you can use plastic frames.

Silicone mould:

It is very easy to remove the candy from the Silicone mould, and you can use isomalt and boiled sugar in this type of frame.
